Six Pillars of Character

We follow the six pillars of character: responsibility, trustworthiness, citizenship, fairness, caring and respect. Pupils learn to use these to help them make good choices and decisions.

All classrooms emphasize the Six Pillars Of Character. Read our Character Pledge:

 

  • I pledge to be a person of Good Character.

  • I will be worthy of TRUST.

  • I will be RESPECTFUL and RESPONSIBLE.

  • Doing what I must.

  • I will always act with FAIRNESS.

  • I will show that I CARE.

  • I will be a good CITIZEN and always do my share.

TRUSTWORTHINESS

  • Be honest in communications and actions.

  • Don’t deceive, cheat or steal.

  • Be reliable — do what you say you’ll do.

  • Have the courage to do the right thing.

  • Build a good reputation.

  • Be loyal to your values.

  • Keep your promises.

RESPECT

  • Treat others with respect and follow the Golden Rule.

  • Be accepting of differences.

  • Use good manners, not bad language.

  • Be considerate of the feelings of others.

  • Don’t threaten, hit or hurt anyone.

  • Deal peacefully with anger, insults, and disagreements.

RESPONSIBILITY

  • Do what you are supposed to do

  • Persevere – keep on trying

  • Do your best

  • Use self-control

  • Be self-disciplined

  • Think before you act

  • Consider the consequences

  • Be accountable for your choices

FAIRNESS

  • Play by the rules

  • Take turns and share

  • Be open-minded; listen to others

  • Don’t take advantage of others

  • Don’t blame others carelessly

  • Treat all people fairly

CARING

  • Be kind
